Tưởng Tượng Em

Anh tưởng tượng thế nào
Hình bóng em, anh hỡi?
-- Em như một vì sao
Lấp lánh hằng mỗi tối

Anh vẽ bằng tâm trí
Những nét tự trong tim
Từ những lần suy nghĩ
Khi đọc từng thơ em

Em tựa ánh trăng vàng
Hiền dịu và mênh mang
Hay hờn sương mây chắn
Mây qua lại dịu dàng

Anh thành người tâm họa
Vẽ em như đóa sen
Nở tươi xinh đẹp quá
Nơi đầm chua nước phèn

Anh chỉ khéo tưởng tượng
Vẽ vời ảnh trăng, hoa
Nói dối không biết ngượng!...
Vẫn đậm đà thiết tha!...

Dạo Bên Bờ Biển

Anh dạo bên bờ biển
Bãi cát dài mênh mông
Bình minh ánh nắng hồng
Đùa vui với sóng chuyển

Anh thì thầm cầu nguyện
Bên kia bờ đại dương
Em cắp sách đến trường
Học hỏi trăm điều mới

Quê hương xa vời vợi
Vỏ ốc cũng cô liêu
Theo tiếng gió buổi chiều
Vi vu lòng thương nhớ

Anh cúi nhặt sò nhỏ
Đưa lên áp vào tai
Như tiếng em ngân dài:
Quê hương còn đói khổ...

Xa nhau ngàn cây số
Cách nhau một đại dương
Thiết tha nhớ lạ thường
Giữa cuộc đời chuyển biến

Chiều nay em ra biển
Cùng tắm với anh không?
Cùng biển xanh cùng lòng
Mà sao xa xăm thế!

Đừng Như Thế

For Amy, and Tuyến

Nhưng an toàn, tình tứ giữa vợ chông

A thứ Sáu, anh làm thơ nóng hổi

My Friend

If I possessed a magic wand
I'd use it every day
To conjure up some happinêss
And send it out your way.
And the I'd give you much success
In everything you do:
Anh health, wealth and peace of mid
To last the whole year through.
What I wwwwant to do is thank you
For kindness you hae shown.
It's comforting in troubled times
To know that you're not alone.
But wondrous things I cannot gie.
Fromagic things I cannot do.
I offer instead this humble gift.
My prayer, "May God bless you!"

Gifted Pen, Talented Writer.

For Clara

A gifted pen from a talented writer
Words of advice from someone of experiences I more than once listened to
Practice, write from your heart
Rewrite it with all your heart
Take it apart
Write from the start
With all the nuances,
the cadences of your heart, of your up and down in life
However awkward, however talented
When the work is done
You call it done
Then your work will shine like the sun
Have some fun
Write it for a reason
With fun and with all your heart
From the beginning to the end
From the introduction to the conclusion
For there is no talented writer who doesn't write, or type, or dictate
A pen needs to be used
Or it will be rusty in the dusty shelf
It will be forgotten
Take good care of your talent
With resilience
With patience
People can take care of themselves
But a pen cannot take care of itself

You Talked Like A Pro

The lady called you Sarah,
And blamed that you didn't take her calls all day yesterday
" I called and called you, Sarah, and nobody transferred my calls to you!
Where were you when I needed you?"
When your name is Farah
You smiled and say, " Ah hah,
I can see now why I had to wait all day
at my office wondering what happened to you
wondering what caused your delay
What can I help you today?"...

"My family said it was not right for me to abandon my husband.
For he had done everything possble to bring me here.
I want my husband back!' She said with tears....

" I know there is a domestic violence in your family
And I am working for child protection ministry
Somehow your husband and you take it so lightly!"
"He didn't do anything! It was all my fault"
"We have talked about it last time,
In your original statement
When you called 911
You said you husband hit you in the basement
When the police came
You retracted your statement
You denied the reality of domestic violence
Which can harm you and your child."

The police have found evidence of domestic violence
And have proved it in court
Our goal is to get you two to sort things out
To see the seriousness of domestic violences
There is no tolerance
For such violence
We have a program to help you to learn to control your anger
You have to take part to work it out
You have to make committment
Until we see some improvements on your part and your husband's part
We cannot allow you two back together for the sake of your child."

"I was so lonely and unhappy ..."
" I know how you feel ...."
" I want to my husband back, I was all my faults.
I made him angry. He works on two jobs
I was lonely at home, I had a boyfriend, Bob..."

"Do you have a boyfriend ?"
"My husband sponsored me
to come to this country for more than a year now,
but all he does is work and work.
From early morning to late at night.
It's not right
I was happier when I was in Vietnam.
Sometimes, I want to give up
I want to give my child to uncle Sam
And pack things and go back to Nam."

"Dear, we don't want you to abandon your daughter
She deserves to be with you, you are her mother.
I don't want to take her away from you.
It would be the last resource we have to come
When her safety is in jeopardy.
We want to help you to have a better life,
a better relationship with your husband
I don't have a magic wand.
All I want from you for now
Is starting from now,
you make a commitment to work it out
Step by step, one day at the time
For at the end of the day, you'd have to face with yourself,
with your soul
What have I done to help myself,
my daughter and the world?"

Bravo to you, Farah
You talked like a pro!
Welcome to Family and Children Services!

Giữ tình yêu thân thiết sống an hòa

Nụ no tròn nho nhỏ thật là xinh

Nở to rồi sắc đỏ thật là tươi

If-

Rudyard Kipling (1910)
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you.
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting.
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream -and not make dreams your master
If you can think -and not make thoughts your aim
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools.
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings -nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute,
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run.
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And -which is more- you'll be a Man, my son!

Sans un geste et sans un soupir ;

Pourtant lutter et te défendre ;

Si tu peux supporter d'entendre tes paroles
Sans mentir toi-même d'un mot ;

Sans qu'aucun d'eux soit tout pour toi ;

Penser sans n'être qu'un penseur ;

Sans être moral ni pédant ;

Seront à tous jamais tes esclaves soumis,
Nul n'est resté le sien, et que chacun t'accuse ;
En faisant cependant sa part juste à leur doute ;
Si tu sais patienter sans lasser ta patience,
Si, sachant qu'on te ment, tu sais ne pas mentir ;
Sans avoir l'air trop bon ou paraître trop sage ;

Si tu aimes rêver sans t'asservir au rêve ;
Et traiter en égaux ces deux traîtres égaux ;
Tu peux la rebâtir de tes outils usés ;

Sans jamais dire un mot de ce qui fut perdu ;
Si tu peux obliger ton cœur, tes nerfs, ta moelle
Sauf une volonté qui sait survivre à tout ;

Si t'adressant aux foules tu gardes ta vertu ;
Si tout homme avec toi compte sans trop compter ;

Un chacun perd la tête, et met le blâme en toi ;
Si tu gardes confiance alors que chacun doute,
Mais sans leur en vouloir de leur manque de foi ;
Sans avoir l'air trop bon ni parler trop sagement ;

Si tu rêves, - sans faire des rêves ton pilastre ;
Si tu penses, - sans faire de penser toute leçon ;
Si tu sais rencontrer Triomphe ou bien Désastre,
Et traiter ces trompeurs de la même façon ;
Si tu peux supporter tes vérités bien nettes
Et te baisser, pour prendre et trier les morceaux ;

Sans murmurer un mot de ta perte au va-tout ;

Ou frayes avec les rois sans te croire un héros ;
Si l'ami ni l'ennemi ne peuvent te corrompre ;
Si tout homme, pour toi, compte, mais nul par trop ;
Si tu sais bien remplir chaque minute implacable

Mais comprendre leur doute et toujours les aimer ;
- Mais sans parler en Sage, ou sembler trop gentil ;

Sans te laisser berner par ces deux imposteurs ;
Avec de vieux outils assembler les morceaux ;

En toi pour un soupir sur ton pari perdu ;
À ton vide total, leur dit toujours : « Tenez ! »

Si tout homme t'est cher mais nul n'a trop de poids ;

Repartir à zéro, sans un mot, ni chagrin ;

Si tu sais patienter quand l'attente s'éternise,

Si, quand ton corps épuisé veut t'abandonner,
Quand tes jambes fléchissent et refusent d'avancer,
Quand ton cœur, tes muscles et tes nerfs te hurlent « Assez ! »

A như thế anh làm thơ thật nóng
